Two Special Interest Sessions (SIS) are organized on ITS solutions for greening and improving the efficiency of heavy commercial vehicles and long distance road freight transport.

The SIS 46 "Truck platooning: next steps" will present an update of the latest developments, issues and perspectives of truck platooning in Europe and abroad. It is supported by the European Truck Platooning Challenge (ETPC) and other stakeholders. Truck platooning opens perspectives for a significant improvement in freight transport efficiency.

The SIS 41 "Greening road freight transport by electrification" will present two solutions of heavy vehicle electrification for long distance travels on highways, developed by Alstom and Siemens, the environmental and energy perspectives, the truck and infrastructure equipement and adaptation, and the first implementations. These solutions are promizing to cut CO2 and NOx emissions and fossil energy consumption and to clean the future road freight transport.

Both sessions will be introduced by a few keynote speeches by recognised experts and then consist of round tables and a debate with the audience, to address the pending issues and pave the way for future developments.
