The truck platooning is addressing questions related to autonomous driving and also competitiveness of the goods road transport. Therefore, there is a strong need to address this question on a holistic basis including a large number of stakeholders and countries. The European Truck Platooning Challenge (ETPC) showed successfully the impact of a political supported dynamic. The result achieved by the solid cooperation between industry and public authorities allowing for the first time a cross-border large scale testing on open roads. The network created under the 2016 truck platooning initiative will serve to coordinate and back up the different initiatives under preparation.
